Prototyping tools are like my best friends at work. I need to know which one is right for me, depending on the team and project I’m currently working on. I don’t have only one go-to tool since I work with different teams, and I need to adjust to their cultures. I use Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, and Principle daily — it depends on what tool my collaborators are using.
Each tool has its own benefits and downsides. But, I think it’s part of a designer's job to keep updated with the trends and be fluid using different design tools. We…
As a leading auto company that operates in more than 150 countries, a strong customer experience design is vital and will undoubtedly provide a strong foundation as the brand continues to grow. Given the global operation of the brand with many stakeholders across the world, there will undoubtedly be constraints. One of the most difficult, yet crucial, challenges throughout this customer experience redesign was to ensure we aligned with the global brand while focusing on the US incremental market growth.
Knowing the nature of the project scale, there are some lessons that I learned through the whole development experience. …
It was summer last year when I first joined my team. I got hired by a New York-based digital agency, a subsidiary of the considered world's largest advertising company, as of 2019. Considering its name, the company has numerous huge clients under the hood. The directors who interviewed me said I would work specifically for a global leading automaker company. Yep, exciting.
When my team told me I would lead the UX design for the US market of the automaker company, it was like throwing a sequoia tree on my shoulder. I supposed everyone was an expert in their fields…
What’s going on with 2020? I have enough of 2020, can we skip to 2021?
As days pass by, sometimes it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Starting with the pandemic earlier this year, lockdown, economic crisis, and now protests against racial injustice. No matter how optimistic I can be, it’s pretty hard to stand tall if the thunders are coming one after another. But, I don’t want to be in grief; I want to leave cloudy memories behind.
Everyone sure has different approaches to cope with specific situations. For me, as a designer, I’m…
Life in lockdown sucks. But, it leads me to be a better me.
I’m not a writer, blogger, or influencer, if I even count as one. I’m just a 26 years old recent graduate who happens to be stuck in New York during the pandemic. First of all, I’m writing this just so I can tell my future self “Hey, you’ve been through this. You know, you’ve lived in history.” Yeah, that will make me feel good.
I can’t tell how people are experiencing the pandemic. But, I’m grateful that I’m still here, enjoying the best I can experience.
It’s…
I recently learned that designing things is really hard. Like, seriously hard. From the perspective of a Product Designer, designing things is harder than actually making them. That is because designers tend to identify specific problems and create design solutions for certain users. We try to put so much empathy to understand our users and sometimes it’s very exhausting. By the end of the day, we just want to get things done when we’re too tired to think of it. And that, what I personally think, is a pitfall why we’re often stuck when we design things.
As a Product…
It’s been over a year since I realized that “design” job titles are really high in demand. Everyone wants to be a designer — UX Designer, UI Designer, Interaction Designer, Product Designer, Customer Experience Designer, Motion Designer, etc. You name it. Actually no, everyone can be a designer. Many people take design courses, attend workshops, learn design tools to be a designer. Everyone wants to solve problems by designing good products. This makes me think “If everyone is a designer, how can I be a good designer?” If many people are good designers, how can I be a great designer?

Previously worked as a UX designer doesn’t guarantee me from mastering what does interactivity mean. Alright, it’s just a term. Who cares about a term as long as I know how to use it or how to make interactive stuffs. Yes, I was too stubborn to realize how a term would definitely change the way I see things. I realized it’s not just about a term, rather a concept of how we understand things. Further, understanding is the core to do an action. How can we do the right action if we don’t understand the concept behind it?
I am so frustrated about NYC transportation system. One of many things that bother me is the MTA Trip Planner Installation on the platforms. It looks like this.
Since I’m taking Visual Language class, I tried to redesign its interface. But then I realized that I needed to do some observations before redesigning it. I was wondering if people could actually used it, if people were not frustrated enough like I did, even if people would notice it. So, I did my observation in Time Square station (I thought this station was one of the busiest station, didn’t know if…
What is computation? Is it computer science? Some kind of programming? Most designers will freak out when hearing the term compute, computation, or computational ‘thing’. I wouldn’t even think about it if there was no Computational Media class in ITP. The term computational captivated my sight to seek further definitions. And how can it relate to User Experience?
Most people believe that computation is somehow a thing that relates to computer. Yes, I’d say that too. But scientists have been researched this term’s definition since Turing machine was invented. From their perspectives, it is a term that its definition will…
